Established in 1965 in Kottakkal, Kerala, Dr. P. Alikutty’s Ayurveda & Modern Hospital has evolved into a cornerstone of traditional ayurveda over six decades.
Founded by Dr. P. Alikutty and T. Khyrunisa, the institution began as a modest clinic and transformed into a prominent 50-room NABH accredited Ayurveda Hospital, catering to individuals from India and the Middle East.

Dr. P. Alikutty’s journey showcases perseverance, transitioning from a day care clinic to an ISO 9001:2015 certified ayurveda hospital with Diamond Category recognition from the Kerala Govt. Tourism Dept.
Expanding its footprint, the institution established branches in Ajman (UAE), Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Pune during this period. Additionally, Dr. P. Alikutty’s Ayurveda Pharmacy, associated with the hospital, holds GMP accreditation and is a licensed FSSAI Manufacturer, reinforcing the institution's commitment to excellence.
In parallel, the establishment of the Institute for Education, Training & Research (IETR) reflects their commitment to development and education through ayurveda. IETR conducts training and certificate courses, contributing to the broader mission of advancing ayurvedic knowledge and practice.

Dr. P. Alikutty, born on October 31, 1939, emerged as a pioneer in healthcare. Graduating from VPSV Ayurveda College, Kottakkal, in the inaugural batch (1960-1965), he diversified with Allopathic training in 1965. His practice in Edarikode transcended traditional boundaries, offering comprehensive care for various ailments, including chronic conditions, skin issues, carcinoma, and paralysis. Specializing in paediatric illnesses and birth disorders, he developed unique methodologies and formulations. Dr. Alikutty's sincerity, humility, and expertise garnered deep trust from the community, aligning with his vision to make Healthcare accessible to all through Ayurveda.
This commitment led to the expansion of his clinic into a nursing home and the establishment of a new hospital complex in 1995 at Changuvetty. Kottakkal Ayurveda Nursing Home was inaugurated on March 6, 1998. Simultaneously, the hospital initiated the manufacturing of Ayurveda classical formulations and special formulations, evolving into a GMP licensed factory in 2005.
Beyond healthcare, Dr. Alikutty's impact extended to social and cultural domains. His involvement and leadership roles in associations such as the Ayurveda Medical Association, Interest-Free loan funds, Edarikode YSC and Parappur Yuvajan Sangam Library showcased his multifaceted contributions to society.
The 4th daughter of Thottiyil Abdulla master and Pandarathil Pathumunni hajjuma, she hailed from a highly educated family in Parappur village. With three sisters and five brothers, including four medical professionals and one engineer, her family was a bastion of knowledge.
A staunch supporter of the institution's founder, she embodied self-esteem and visionary thinking. Her enthusiasm and dedication were instrumental in realizing the hospital's expansion and concept in the early days, culminating in the establishment of the present hospital premise in 1998.
Known for her gracious hospitality, she extended a helping hand to those in need, emphasizing staff welfare and championing women's education. Committed to uplifting the oppressed, she played a pivotal role in grooming her children to become professionals and co-founders of the hospital, leaving an indelible mark on society.
Following the unfortunate loss of both founders in 2010, Dr. P. Abdul Gafoor played a pivotal role in shaping the legacy of Dr. P. Alikutty’s Ayurveda & Modern Hospital.
Joining forces with his father and mentor, Dr. P. Alikutty, after graduating in 1992 from the esteemed Government College of Ayurveda , Trivandrum he spearheaded the hospital's expansion and the introduction of In-Patient facilities for international patients in 1998 as Kottakkal Ayurveda Nursing Home.
In 1997, Dr. Gafoor extended the institution's reach by establishing a branch in Ajman, UAE.
Transitioning to the role of Chairman in 2010, he assumed the position of Chief Physician, guiding the institution through significant advancements and expansions until 2020.
Under his leadership, the hospital achieved NABH accreditation, reinforcing its commitment to excellence.
Dr. Gafoor's contributions became beacons of hope and unwavering care, providing affordable healthcare to those in need. Beyond being a practitioner, he embodied a sanctuary of healing, compassion, and hope. His empathetic approach and innovative treatments set new standards in patient care, leaving an indelible mark on the institution's journey.
